We only had time to drive through Yellowstone on this trip so I won't spend too much time on this post. A couple interesting things happened though. The first was that we happened to be traveling through the park on National Park Appreciation Day and that meant admission was free! A good price for us since $25 would have a been a hefty toll (that we would have gladly paid, but still) for just passing through. Second was the first animal traffic stoppage we came to was for a bear! This was the first time that we have ever seen a bear in the wild. I was unable to get a picture, however, due to the angle it was to the road and to me.

Great timing to get there on the free day. We'll go back in December to find you a bear
Yellowstone is one of our favorite places.
Megan, has your dad ever told you about the time we were driving in Yellowstone with Auntie Pat and stopped to let a group of Bison walk along the road? Your dad was laughing out loud as Auntie Pat expressed her concern about the huge animals taking over the road. Also, we got to see the protective instincts of the mother bison who moved the young ones over to the side putting themselves closest to the cars. Some fun and sweet memories! Love, Aunt Cath
