Adventures at Church

This is Bethany's new dress that she wore to her baptism interview with the Bishop. She is really excited about her 8th birthday coming up and her baptism, which we have scheduled on the 14th of December. Everyone is invited to attend. We definitely have plenty of room and food (thanks to Thanksgiving) to spare!

Jessica did have a new dress on but had a major blowout during Sunday School, while I was substituting for Arnie, who was home sick. Of course, I had just taken out the extra set of clothes for her to make room for some essentials that Arnie usually carries! A kind couple, who live nearby, dashed home and lent me this sleeper so my baby wouldn't be naked in the cold of November.

Snow Swamp

After a lot of rain and our first snow fall, this is what has arisen in my backyard, a Snow Swamp! Arnie is thinking of making a dam in the spring to hold back the flood waters in the future.

Leave only footprints, take only the Stomach flu?

Well, as it turns out, packing a whole lot of people in one tiny resort in the backwoods of New Hampshire is a great way to cultivate bacteria. Monday, Kaitlyn, Arnie and Malia were down for the count. Tuesday it was the other half of the family's turn. We are all feeling better now. Just in time to eat Thanksgiving dinner. Thank Goodness!

Attitash Conference

Well, we had a busy weekend. The New England Recruiting Battalion had its annual training conference at a ski resort called Attitash, which sounds like what a Looney Tunes cartoon guy should be saying after exclaiming, "Suffering suca..."
We all had a good time seeing a little more of New Hampshire. I especially enjoyed meeting and being with other Army wives again. This is the first time meeting anybody having to do with Arnie's job. There was also a fancy ball that I got to go to with Arnie. This turned out to be a big role reversal for me as I was now one of the "senior" wives with a lot more experience in the "real" Army than a great many of those around me. People were looking at me for an example instead of me looking at the more senior ranking spouses(which there was only one that night!).
All in all, it was a fun but exhausting experience. We didn't go to bed early any of the nights we were there.

Just a side note as way of explanation to why there are no pictures of beautiful North Conway-
I discovered my camera battery to be MIA after thinking at first that it was just dead. I still can't find the battery now that I am home. If it shows up at your house, please be kind enough to let me know. I'll be happy to come and get it :)

Got Fish?

We have this great little pet shop in the shopping center on the corner of our neighborhood that has all sorts of wonderful creatures to look at. Some better than others. Like for instance, we enjoy the salt water fish better than say, oh, the hissing cockroaches. They even have a Humuhumunukunukuapua'a or for you haoles, the Hawaii State fish. The pet store has it tagged as the Humu Humu Trigger fish. Kaitlyn especially loves the clown fish, "Nemos!" and the blue tangs, "Dori!" (reference, "Finding Nemo")
Well after spending some time there, I came to the conclusion that the girls would benefit from the presence of a pet. Fish are the only logical choice for me as they are quiet, self cleaning (mostly) and will not (hopefully) ever be handled by my over zealous children. They can also be left alone during the day without getting lonely and tearing up my house, another plus!
So, as you see above, I got set up with the tank and weeds and rocks and am in the process of conditioning the water in anticipation for FISH!
They will be a birthday present for Bethany and she will pick out eight as she is turning that ripe old age. Kaitlyn helped pick out the castle and the pink gravel. I thought them very fitting for my little princesses' fish.

This is Jessi's first baby doll, a Cabbage Patch Newborn. She has green eyes and dark curly hair. She kept saying "hullo!" to her.

She knows what to do with one of these. Got kinda confused when nothing came out.
