Horses and other critters

Near the resort, in fact, right across the street, was a horse riding stable. Malia initially brought our attention to the ad for the place in order to goad us into going for a trail ride. That wasn't in the budget however but the mention of a free petting zoo brought us over to the place to give us a break from water parks. The "petting zoo" was pretty pathetic having one overly friendly alpaca, a bunch of mangy goats, some chickens that weren't all that friendly, and a couple of donkeys.

We were saved from this being a total waste of time by being given permission to go to the horse stables and pet the horses. We weren't given directions however and ended up almost walking into the pasture for the draft horses they use to pull the carriages around for the tourists. The noise of the creaking gate spooked the huge animals and they came running out of their stalls and into the field. Realizing our mistake, we found the correct door and entered their building on the correct side of their stalls. As we stood there, they came back in their stalls and allowed us to pet them. Malia found some feed and enjoyed having them nibble it out of her hands. These were by far the biggest horses I've ever seen.

Upon leaving these magnificant creatures, we spotted what must be the stable where they kept the actual riding horses and went over to see those as well. The young man in charge there was kind enough to bring out, on Kaitlyn's request, a white horse for us to pet. Actually, it was an Appaloosa horse named Smokey. All the girls were in heaven, especially Malia. I admit, I count myself among the girls who enjoyed themselves. Horses have always been a passion. Guess it runs in the family, eh?

Exciting adventure, well written. We know how much Malia loves horses. I want to make a copy of the shot of her and Smokey.
