The local apple orchard, Mack's, had a military appreciation day today, where, by showing your military ID, you could get a free peck of apples, free ice cream and free face painting. There was some live music and some Marines dressing up kids in kevlar helmets and vests and giving them rifles and racing them up and down the field. There was also people dressed in period costumes and shooting old time rifles. They made a couple little kids cry that had gotten to close to the loud gun shot sounds. My girls had a grand time picking our peck of apples, eating our ice cream and having their face painted. It was a lovely way to spend the day. Malia kept running into her best friend in all the world, Sydney, which made the day extra sweet for her.

We remember the fall activities in NH. "They know how to do autumn up here" is what you told us. And you were right. Loved seeing the girls with their apples, especially sassy Kaitlyn.
How many apples in a peck?
