Last Tuesday, for joint activity for the young men and young women of our ward, families were invited to join our kids ice skating at one of the local seasonal ice skating rinks.  There is one downtown that would have cost 10 Euro per person and would have required taking the train (an extra 11,30 Euro expense).  So when one family mentioned an ice skating rink that was closer, had free parking and only cost 1 Euro per kid and 2 Euro per adult, we were all over that!  Unfortunately, so was everyone else in the vicinity.  We had to stand in line until people got off the ice.  It took a good 45min/hour for our entire group to get on the ice.  By that time we were all pretty much tired.  It was Jessi and Kaitlyn's first time ice skating and Bethany and Malia's second time.  Considering that the ice was pretty chewed up (no zambonis here) and how packed it was (think bumper cars on ice skates), the girls did very well for newbies.  Kaitlyn lamented that she had worn the wrong kind of gloves for ice skating.  I asked her what she meant and she showed me her hands that were covered in ice shavings and she said, "You didn't tell me there was going to be snow!"  I tried not to rub it in that had she not fallen down so much, her gloves would have been perfectly adequate.  She won the prize for most times falling but also for the most times getting up again and enduring.  She is a trooper.
