Happy Hammaris: Skiing in Garmisch Day 2

On day 2 of lessons, Malia started her first day of snowboarding lessons. She didn't end up being in Bethany's class like we had hoped because they separated people by how many days they had been skiing or snowboarding and Bethany was one day ahead of Malia. It, also, just so happened that nobody else Malia's level started that day so she ended up having private lessons instead of being in a group. This meant that her lesson ended an hour to an hour and a half before the rest of us were done with ours. So she ended up going down and hanging out at the lodge again by herself.

A side note about the lodge. The Hausberg lodge shares the parking lot with the ski resort and is owned by the American Military. They have their own little slope in the back of the property for their ski school and for sledding (which I'll mention later). Inside there is a grill/bar and tables to sit and eat. For the most part, we brought our own food to eat from the house we were staying at. But once we forgot our home lunch and ate lunch there for under $40 for all six of us. There is a ping-pong table and a fuss-ball table that the girls would play with while we were killing time before lessons and at lunch. Downstairs, there were lockers where we stored our gear overnight so we didn't have to haul our stuff in and out of our cold car at the house. They also had a rental gear shop that helped us a couple times with waxing or tuning our gear for little or no cost.

Brad and Angie said that last year it was a lot busier and it would be a shame for such a great facility to go under for lack of business so I figured we should promote it as much as possible since it was such a great asset for our trip.

Anyway, once again, my lessons were very physically exhausting but with the help of better socks, my shins felt much better. We went up the mountain again as a family after lunch and spent our time on the "magic carpet." This is the basically a conveyor belt you stand on that takes you up the small bunny hill. We had fun racing down the hill, dodging little kids on skis :) It was a lot of fun.
