Kaitlyn turns 8!!!!!!!

On July 21, Kaitlyn turned that magical age 8!  She has been looking forward to this birthday for years!  For those who don't know, in the LDS church, eight years old is when all children born in the church can get baptized.  She has been so excited and for the better part of this year she has also been saving up for her present.  Her big sister, Malia, had done the same thing for her birthday in April and Kaitlyn loved the idea so much she followed suit.  Some back story here, though.  For the last two or three Christmases, Kaitlyn has wanted Santa to bring her a Nintendo DS handheld video game player and she unfortunately has never gotten her wish.  So when Malia was able to buy her own DS on her birthday, Kaitlyn was right behind her in saving as well.  Thanks also needs to be made to both Grandparents as their monetary gifts also contributed to the fulfilling of her dreams.

I made yummy cupcakes instead of a cake and frosted them with her favorite color.  Any pink or red for this girl!

 She had invited around 9 or 10 friends to the party but unfortunately, nobody showed up and only one of those RSVP'd to say they weren't coming.  So we ended up having a very nice family party.  We might end up doing those from now on and save on the heart ache.

 However, as you can see, my bright sun shiny girl didn't let it get her down.  She was so excited about achieving her goal that nothing else really mattered to her.  I am very proud of her.
