Yesterday, we spent the morning hanging out in historic Nauvoo. We visited the blacksmith shop, where we all got some "prairie diamonds" and Malia got a tiny horse shoe, the gunsmith's, where Arnie swapped stories with the tour guide about 30 caliber machine guns, which were invented by Browning's son and grandson, the print shop, and the bakery, where we got to sample some gingerbread cookies. I think the girls' favorite place, though, was the Pioneer Past-times, where we got to dress up as pioneers and play all the games that they played back then. Bethany even thoroughly beat another kid in the stick pull, a game where you sit on the ground with your feet together and a stick in both hands between you and try to pull your opponent either up or over. I'll have to explain to Bethany later that it is not nice to beat boys in games. :) He was a very good sport about it though.

Terrific photo! I'll want to put that up on my photo wall. You know that the famous gun inventor, Browning was a Mormon? We have no problem believing that Bethany was a winner at the stick game. Good for her!
