Not being from a snowy place, I had no idea that you would ever have to get on roof to shovel snow but that is just what Arnie is doing! Apparently when you get too much snow on a roof that is not steep enough to shed it by itself, a backlog of melted and then re-frozen ice can accumulate at the edges and cause damage to your roof. Even more damage can occur if there is rain and warmer weather that saturates the snow up there.
Luckily, our neighbor came by and lent us his snow rake for the garage roof so I was able to help Arnie a little bit before getting exhausted. Thank heavens for a healthy husband.

Ahh, the joys of snow. Careful up there because it is as dangerous as it seems. I know that they have a device that lets you get the snow off while you stay on the ground.
We in the Colorado River Valley this winter only need a few pictures like this to remind us why we're here.

We've been fortunate to not have that much snow here. It does seem pretty sketchy to be on a roof with ice on it. Be careful!
